WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT (DVT) DVT/PE are often underdignoised and serious, but preventable medical conditions. It is important to know about DVT because it can happen to anybody at any age and can cause serious illness, disability, and in some cases, death. The good news is that DVT is preventable and treatable if discovered early. POSSIBLE SYMPTOMS OF DVT 1–prolonged physical immobility, such as sitting 2–blood-clotting disorders 3–cancer 4–increased age or smoking 5–major illness with hospitalization 6–obesity or heart disease 7–oral contraceptive use or hormone therapy 8–personal or family history of DVT 9–pregnancy 10-recent major surgery or trauma
