According to new research, colorful foods like blueberries, spinach and spirulina, can help reduce the brain damage caused by strokes. As stated in Psychology Today, one can use a cupful of blueberries, a big spinach salad or a few teaspoons of spirulina powder every day, to insure high levels of antioxidants which neutralize free radicals. Free radicals are implicated in degenerative diseases, including heart disease.

Apples are very rich in antioxidants and the varieties that have more than most health promoting antioxidants are Red Delicious and Northern Spy. It is important to eat balanced diets which include fruits and vegetables to maintain optimum health.
